Story- A story is an account of imaginary or real people and events told for entertainment.
Novel- A Novel is a long printed story about imaginary characters and events.
Biography- A Biography is a written account of another person’s life.
Autobiography- An Autobiography is a written account of the history of a person’s life, written or told by that person himself.
Legend- Legend is a story that is sometimes of a national or folk hero. Legend is based on fact but also includes imaginative material.
Poetry – Poetry is verse and rhythmic writing with imagery that evokes an emotional response from the reader. The art of poetry is rhythmical in composition, written or spoken.
Fiction- The genre of Fiction can be defined as a narrative literary work whose content is produced by the imagination and is not necessarily based on fact. In fiction something is feigned, invented, or imagined, a made-up story.
Mythology- Mythology is often based on historical events, that reveals human behavior and natural phenomena by its symbolism; often pertaining to the actions of the gods.
Historical Fiction – Historical Fiction is a story with fictional characters and events in a historical setting.
Realistic Fiction- Realistic Fiction is a story that can actually happen and is true to real life.
Science Fiction – Science Fiction is a imaginary story based on the background of Science. It is one of the genres of literature that deals with scientific incidents.
Mystery- Mystery is a genre of fiction that deals with the solution of a crime or the unraveling of secrets. Anything that is kept secret or remains unknown.
Literary terms
Masques: were slight plays involving much singing and dancing.
Comedy: is lighter drama in which the leading characters overcome the difficulties which temporarily beset them.
Problem play: drama of social criticism discuss a social, economic or political problems by means of a place
Aside: lines whispered to the audience or to another character on stage.
Personification: giving the quality of life to inanimate things.
